-3dB), high-end quality audio up to 750 W /4 ohms with an efficiency exceeding 95% at nominal power. Furthermore, this series features one of the world lowest quiescent current consumptions. This may seem obvious, but other Class-D amplifiers have high efficiency at full power but draw (and dissipate) tens of watts when no signal is present. As an example, the S750 model draws only 5.5 watts with no signal and less than 3 watts when in stand-by. This goal is achieved by a careful design of the signal and driver stages, that draw very little power, and the use of switching technology also for the internal power supplies. This low dissipation allows very easy installation (no heatsink or forced cooling needed for most applications). Besides, there is no need to connect several voltages, as Sonora S250 and S750 modules work from a single, wide-range, symmetric power supply.

 

Coldamp designs are always synchronous natural-sampling, with a well-defined, constant clock frequency that produces small, constant-amplitude switching residual and allows easy synchronization between channels and/or with our switching PSUs, allowing a drastic background noise reduction.

Coldamp has developed an integrated module, Sonora Combo 2S300, a 2 x 300 W amplifier with switching PSU, that fully exploits this fact, because the whole circuitry is synchronized for utmost, repeatable, consistent, sound quality. This module is specially aimed at home constrcutors, OEMs and integrators due to its easy connection (only AC power, input and speaker wires involved), but with a bunch of auxiliary connections that add flexibility when it is needed.

 

The smallest amplifier in the series, the S250, uses the same technology but is optimized for low-cost and small size in applications where moderate power output is needed.

 

The whole Sonora Series (S250, S750, Combo 2S300) also feature integrated comprehensive protection including under-voltage, over-voltage, overcurrent, short-circuit and over-temperature shutdown with integrated sensors, making them extremely reliable. Besides, all of them can be bridged, extending the power range to over 1500 watts at 4or 8 ohms using two S750, or 600 watts into /8 ohms with the 2S300.
