Intersil launches video modem and line equaliser devices
Intersil has announced three new products for video applications with signal transmission over coaxial or CAT 5 cabling. Two of these devices, the TW3801 camera modem PHY and the TW3811 receiver modem PHY, form part of the Security Link over Coax (SLOC) family. This is a new product family for Intersil, arising from the company’s springtime acquisition of Techwell, a fabless mixed-signal video IC provider. The third new offering is the ISL59601/2/3/4/5 series of MegaQ adaptive composite video equalizers.
The SLOC modems are designed for simultaneous transmission of an analogue composite video, blanking, and sync (CVBS) signal and digital IP video signal over a single coaxial cable over distances up to 500 m. The allows users to install newer, megapixel IP cameras without having to replace or modify their existing coax infrastructure.
This approach provides latency-free viewing and camera control, enabling system makers to build systems that support both latency-free closed-circuit TV and networked IP surveillance.
The devices in the MegaQ family are designed to automatically equalise video signals over both Cat 5 and coax and deliver excellent video quality at distances up to 1.6
